NOTE: Since the Ramble took place back in 2012 changes to the cultural landscape since then have made the following narrative no longer an entirely accurate description of Sydney County as it is today. Instead, it should be looked upon as a historical snapshot of the area as it was in 2012. Over the years since the ramble took place some things have been added – such as Steinhart’s near Arisaig and the Authentic Seacoast Distillery and Brewhouse in Guysborough - and some things have been shut down – such as the Rare Bird Pub and the Skipping Stone Café in Guysborough. But the natural features and history discussed all remains the same. And because of the slow growth economic conditions of Antigonish and Guysborough counties the vast majority of the cultural features described in the Ramble are still accurate today.
